The Argentinean guitarist, Miguel Angel Girollet, was a student of Graciela Pomponio and Jorge Mantinez Zarate at the Conservatorio Juan José Castro in Buenos Aires. He continued his studies for three years with Abel Carlevaro and Ljerka Spiller. He won five first prizes and other international laurels, including Paris, Porto Alegre, and Geneva.
Miguel Angel Girollet appeared in the most prestigious halls of North and South America and Europe, such as: Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Carnegie Hall in New York (3 times) Hall of America of the OAS in Washington, Philharmonie in Berlin, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow (4 times), Philharmonic Halls in Leningrad, Kiev and Armenia, Dvorák Hall in Prague; House of Radio France, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, etc. He made tours of the former USSR (5 times), North, Central and South America (6), and Germany (6). He also performed often in Spain, France Switzerland, England, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Greece, Belgium and Czechoslovakia. He played as soloist with Orchestra of Radio Berlin, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Thuringia Symphony Orchestra, Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras Buenos Aires, Opera Bulgaria (a country he also toured twice), Camerata Bariloche, etc. His repertoire covered music from the 16th century to contemporary.
Miguel Angel Girollet was Professor of International Seminar in Porto Alegre (Brazil) for 10 years, the Collegium Musìcum Buenos Aires; Professor in various conservatories of Argentina. He taught courses in universities of Bordeaux, Puerto Rico, Veracruz Bourges, Costa Rica, Bogota, the Real Conservatorio in Madrid, etc. He also participated in the jury of music competitions in Europe and both Americas. |
