The English soprano, Ruth Gibbins, gained her Bachelor of Arts degree (with honours) in Music from the University of Durham and an Mphil. in Musicology from the University of Cambridge, before moving to London in 2005. She has been studying with Sophie Grimmer since 2009.
Ruth Gibbins now has a busy freelance career as a consort singer in the UK and touring abroad. She frequently works with Gabrieli Consort (Director: Paul McCreesh), and has toured extensively throughout Europe with them. She also tours and records regularly with a wide variety of professional ensembles, including Polyphony (Director: Stephen Layton), Choir of the Age of Enlightenment, Choir of the Academy of Ancient Music, Le Concert d'Astrée (Director: Emmanuelle Haïm), Ludus Baroque, The English Concert, Cambridge Singers (Director: John Rutter), BBC Singers, The Clerks Group, Philharmonia Voices, and The Geoffrey Mitchell Choir with Opera Rara.
Her work in 2010 included recordings of Eric Whitacre (with the Eric Whitacre Singers) and George Frideric Handel's Alexander’s Feast (with Ludus Baroque), performances of Purcell in France and a tour of G.F. Handel’s Messiah in Spain with Gabrieli Consort. |
