The Italian mezzo-soprano, Roberta Garelli, studied at Conservatorio G. Verdi di Torino and at Conservatorio Ghedini Cuneo, graduating in singing in 1988 under the guidance of Luisella Ciaffi.
Since 1990 Roberta Garelli has participated in numerous editions of Piemonte in Musica, performing Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle. In 2001, she recorded the CD "Vecchie canzoni popolare dei Piemonte: dedicated to the work of Leone Sinigallia and in 2003 Orlando finto Pazzo by A. Vivaldi with the Academia Montis Regalis. In 2004, she was co-founder of the female chamber vocal sextet Chants des Femmes Nouvelles. She collaborated with the Coro Filarmonico del Teatro alla Scala di Milano and in 2009 with the Vox Libera ensemble for the performance of Nonsense by Goffredo Petrassi and La barca di Venetia per Padova by Adriano Banchieri. She perfomed the role of Kate in Puccini's Madama Butterfly at Teatro Regio di Torino in the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons. Also for Teatro Regio, directed by Semyon Bychkov, she interpreted the Quarto Paggio in the concert performance of Tannhäuser by R. Wagner in 2010, Leggenda by Solbiati, Fidelio by L.v. Beethoven directed by Gianandrea Noseda in 2011. She currently lives in Turin, Italy. |
