The American tenor, choral conductor, pianist and music teacher, Ace Gangoso, obtained his Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Voice Performance from the University of Central Arkansas (2005-2009); and his Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Literature from Northwestern University (2010-2012). He continues voice study with NU Professor W. Stephen Smith. He is a proud alumni member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the world’s oldest and largest fraternal society in music.
Ace Gangoso enjoys an eclectic musical career in Chicago as a singer, music director, pianist, and teacher. He sings with Chicago a Cappella (since 2014), where he has also served as Program Director for the High School Apprenticeship program (July 2014-July 2019) and has led residencies as part of the organization’s Education Outreach offerings. He also adds his voice to the tenor sections of the Chicago Symphony Chorus (since 2013) and Grant Park Chorus (since 2016), and in July 2019 joined the vocal chamber quartet Fourth Coast Ensemble in Chicago. He served as Associate Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Evanston (February 2014-June 2016); Director of Music at St. Cornelius Parish in Chicago (July 2016-July 2017); and currently he is the Director of Music Ministry at St. Nicholas Parish in Evanston (since July 2017), where he conducts several choirs and musical groups and plays up to four masses each weekend. Additionally, he is a pianist for the Chicago Black Catholics Choir (since February 2018) and a supplementary staff musician at St. Michael in Old Town. He is also a private voice instructor at Highland Park High School. He moved to the Chicago area in 2010 and currently resides in the Lakeview neighborhood. |
