The French counter-tenor and baritone, Cecil Gallois, obtained Master of Arts degree in Philisophy, before he began his singing studies in 2001 at the Conservatoire de Nantes, where he worked with Paul Colleaux. He then moved to Paris to continue his training and joined Ensemble Vocal du Maine under the direction of Bernard Fabre-Garus. As a student at the Conservatoire du XVIIème arrondissement de Paris, he was received in September 2003 at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, where he worked under the direction of Olivier Schneebeli. During his studies, he worked with many conductors such Hervé Niquet, Patrick Cohën-Akenine, Vincent Dumestre or Ton Koopman.
Meanwhile, Cecil Gallois participated in several Baroque theater projects as an actor-singer, and played roles such as Gusmant (in pronunciation restored) in Le Double Veuvage (1702) by Charles-Riviere Dufresny, staged by Judith Leblanc, for which he won the best actor award at the Festival Rideau rouge.
In September 2006, Cecil Gallois performed a series of English and Italian Baroque music recitals in Japan, in Tokyo and Okayama. During the year 2007, he participated in numerous Baroque and contemporary music concerts as a soloist and has worked with the ensemble Les Paladins (Director: Jerome Correas) at the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu. |
