The American choral conductor, music teacher and composer, Franklin Gallo, was trained in piano, voice, and trumpet from an early age. He holds a B.S., from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a Performance Certificate from the Ezio Pinza Council of American Singers of Opera (Italy), a M.M. from Shenandoah University, a Diploma from the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music (Hungary), where he studied with Eva Vendrei and Péter Erdei, and a D.M.A. from The Hartt School, under the guidance of Edward Bolkovac.
Franklin Gallo has been a public school vocal music teacher and choral director for the past 10 years serving students in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Illinois, and New Jersey. He has also held faculty positions at Shepherd University, The Hartt School, and at DePaul University. Regularly, he is on faculty in the Kodály certification programs at Westminster Choir College and at Silver Lake College.
Franklin Gallo is in demand as a guest conductor, clinician, conference presenter, and composer. He has premiered his choral arrangements at high schools, colleges, and at music conferences. In 2015, Colla Voce Music released his arrangements, Early, Early in the Spring, written for SSA choir, piano, flute and oboe, and Three Fishers Went Sailing, for SAB choir, piano and cello. Additionally, he was awarded the 2015 Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) Ruth Boshkoff Composition Prize. His work, My Fairest Child, will be premiered in March by the OAKE National Youth Choir In Minneapolis.
