The German violinist, Daniel Gaede, on graduating from high school, studied with Thomas Brandis in Berlin, Max Rostal in Switzerland, and Josef Gingold in the USA. The winner of many scholarships and international awards, he received a prize at the Artists International Competition in New York, which led to a performance at Carnegie Hall in 1992.
Daniel Gaede has appeared as a soloist with several major orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, City of London Sinfonia, Polish Chamber Orchestra and Wiener Philharmoniker, and has toured Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Australia. There were some collaborations with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti and Michael Tilson Thomas. He has also been active as a chamber musician, forming Trio Cecile (piano trio) with pianist Xuesu Liu and cellist Julius Berger; Gaede Trio (string trio) with violist Thomas Selditz and cellist Andreas Greger; and Tammuz (piano quartet) with pianist Oliver Triendl, violist Volker Jacobsen or Lars Anders Tomter and cellist Gustav Rivinius. He has also collaborated with cellists Natalia Gutman and Paul Tortelier, and pianists Maria-João Pires and Yukio Yokoyama. From 1994 to 2000, he was the concert-master of the Wiener Philharmoniker. He is a member and concert-master of the Berliner Barock Solisten. Since 2013, he has been the concert-master of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
Daniel Gaede released many CD's by Deutsche Grammophon, CPO, cross - state, Tacet, Largo, and Sony. In 2002 he was awarded the French ' diapason d' or '.
In 2000 Daniel Gaede became a professor at Nuremberg University of Music, and he has given master classes around the world. |
