In 2008 the Dutch violoinst and violist, Antoinette Lohmann, founded her own group, the Baroque Ensemble Furor Musicus. The ensemble consists of leading specialists in historically informed performance practice in the Netherlands. Members of Furor Musicus describe themselves as "fanatical" musicians who are possessed by the desire to understand what music is about and how they should play in order to do justice to a composition.
Two CD's of this group were released recently; a CD with transcriptions of works by J.S.Bach, among them Antoinette Lohmann's reconstruction of a Bach viola concerto and an early version of the B minor suite BWV 1067 for strings (Edition Lilac), and a recording of the violin sonatas Op. 1 by the dutch composer Jacob Nozeman (1693-1745) (Nederlands Muziek Instituut). Both CD's were received with great international acclaim. |

Pieter Affourtit (1963) studied violin at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag. Already during that time he was highly interrested in the baroque-violin and the historical performance-practice, and he started to give performances on period instruments, the Baroque and classical violin, viola and viola d'amore.
From 1987 - 2000 he was concertmaster of Das-Neu-Eröffnete-Orchestre. He also reguarly performs as a concertmaster in the Monteverdi-Orchester München, Capella Figuralis and the Orchstra of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. From 1995 to 1997 he was a member of the Freiburger Barockorchester.
Pieter Affourtit made many radio-, television- and cd recordings. His soloistic cd's appeared at Erasmus, Calig, Capriccio and CPO.
Parallel to his activities as a performer, he is active in the field of research and copying of historical bows for period instruments. |

Arjen de Graaf studied Jazz violin and viola at the Conservatory of Hilversum with Rob Madna and Ferdinand Povel; Indian violin in Calcutta with Pandit VG Jog, and Baroque violin, first with Sayuri Yamagata and later with Antoinette Lohmann at the Utrecht Conservatory. As a baroque violinist he played in orchestra`s like The Utrecht Baroque Consort, The Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Les Talens Lyriques and Le Concert d'Astrée.
Arjen is asked by composers like Hennie Vrienten, Vincent van Warmerdam , Corrie van Binsbergen and Jina Sumedi for recordings and (theatre) productions. He is known for his oriental touch but also for his skills as improvisor in stiles varying from world music, jazz and rock and for his electric violin sounds. |

Jan Hollestelle (1947) had violin lessons as a child and began teaching himself bass guitar from the time he was 13. He began playing double bass at 16, continuing his studies at the Hilversum Muziek Lyceum, from which he graduated at age 21.
In the late 1960’s he performed in the Dutch production of the musical Hair. In the following years, as a bass guitarist, he was a member of a group of session musicians which contributed to the development of Pop music in the Dutch recording studios. He can be heard on many gramophone records and CD productions and was a member of various Pop, Fusion and Jazz groups.
He has taught bass guitar since 1980; currently he teaches bass guitar at the conservatory in Amsterdam.
He was a member of the Metropole Orchestra from 1984 until 2001. During this period he also renewed his interest in double bass.
In the early 1990’s he studied historical performance on violone with Nicholas Pap. Jan Hollestelle currently performs only as a Baroque musician. |

Vaughan Schlepp (1956) received his first piano lessons in England, where he performed at the age of 5. He continued his studies in the USA, played a piano concerto when he was twelve and graduated magna cum laude from the Eastman School of Music in New York. His interest in early music took him to the Netherlands for study with Gustav Leonhardt. As a performer on the harpsichord as well as on the 18th and 19th-centuries fortepiano and the modern piano, Vaughan has given numerous recitals and master-classes throughout the world as well as having made recordings for radio, television and CD. He has performed as soloist with orchestras in the Netherlands and America, and as a chamber musician with artists as Anner Bylsma, Lucy van Dael and Barbara Schlick. As organist he has participated in the recordings of the complete Bach Cantatas released in 2001. Vaughan Schlepp is intensively involved with modern music and theatre, and is active as a teacher and coach for both singers and instrumentalists. Since 1989, he has been in demand as an arranger, music typesetter and publisher. |

Sarah Walder (1969) graduated cum laude in 1992 from Oberlin Conservatory (USA), where she worked with Catharina Meints, receiving degrees in both cello performance and in historical performance on viola da gamba. She continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she earned a degree in Baroque cello and studied violone with Maggie Urquhart.
Sarah continues to reside in The Netherlands performing and recording with a wide variety of ensembles in Europe and the USA, including L’Alba and Super Librum (vielle), Apollo’s Fire (the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra) and the Utrechts Baroque Consort.
She enjoys working with dancers, often with improvised and newly-composed music, and has performed in a large production with dance group Krisztina de Châtel (‘Tell Me’) and in ‘Desert Trip’, a production for 3 dancers, electric cello and singer, composed by Tjerk van der Ham. Sarah plays with Tjerk on piano and violinist Tessa Zoutendijk in the contemporary impro-tango group The Mental Chamber Orchestra. |
