Mariana Florès (Soprano)

Born: 1980 - Mendoza, Argentina

The Argentinean soprano, Mariana Florès, was the flag bearer of the Arts and Design College, which belongs to the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. She graduated from this College as a Specialist in Music in the field of Singing in 2003. In Switzerland she finished in July 2008 her studies in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, as a student of the mezzo-soprano Rosa Domínguez. She has attended courses as an active singer with: Denise Dupleix, Juan Manuel Quintana, Patricia Pease, Jennifer Smith, Margreet Honig and Bernarda Fink.

Since finishiher her studies, Mariana Florès lives in Basle she worked: 2005 in the opera Chepale e Procris by E. Jacquet de la Guerre, Aurora’s role, in the Kunstmuseum Basel, with Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci). She worked with Manfredo Kraemer singing Magnificat by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and also Membra Jesu Nostri by Dietrich Buxtehude. She participated in La Selva Morale by Monteverdi, conducted by Leonardo García-Alarcón. In 2006 she was selected in the Ambronay Academie, singing Giunone by the opera by Cavalli Ercole Amanti, conducted by Gabriel Garrido. In 2007 she sang in Mexico the role of Asprano in the opera Motezuma by Antonio Vivaldi, conducted by Michael Form. She worked with the Clematis Ensemble at the festival Klara in Dendermonde, Belgium, singing music by Jean-Jaques Robson and Servaas de Konink conducted by Leonardo García-Alarcón. In summer 2007 she sang Musica in Orfeo by Monteverdi, conducted by G. Garrido. She sang with Cappella Mediterranea, conducted by Leonardo García-Alarcón in Ambronay Festival, presenting Motetes and Madrigals by Peter Philips. They also made a cd recording with “Harmonia Mundi, France”. She sang with the Ensemble Elyma, music repertoire by Juan de Araujo and Gaspar Fernandes, in the Festival of Ubeda y Baeza, Spain. In 2008, she sings Der für die Sünde der Welt gemarterte und sterbende Jesus (Brockes-Passion, Gotha 1725) by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel (Freunde alter Musik Basel, Martinskirche) and at Tenebrae-Festival Alte Musik Zürich, conducted by J. Andreas Bötticher and Gerd Türk. She sings in differents music festivals: Festival de Musique Ancienne in Saint Michel en Thiérache, with Clematis Ensemble, Festival Grec in Barcelona (Palau de la Música Catalana), “Canto de Amor y Lágrimas” (Torquato Tasso), Festival de Sablé both with Elyma. She sings the role of Aurora in the production of Cephale et Procris by E. Jacquet de la Guerre, with Musica Fiorita conducted by Daniela Dolci in Bayreuth (Markgräfliches Opernhaus). With Cappella Mediterranea, she sings madrigali and cantate a solo by Barbara Strozzi in Ambronay 2008 and also she made a recording for Label Ambronay (Harmonia Mundi).

Mariana Florès was engaged for a season in Schwetzingen (Rokoko Theater) where she sang Manlio's role in Tito Manlio by A. Vivaldi, conducted by Michael Form (Theater der Stadt Heidelberg).
