The American tenor, David Evans, earned his Master of Music in Historical Performance from Boston University, where he studied with Grammy award-winning tenor Aaron Sheehan.
Noted for his “compellingly sung” performances employing “a rich variety of colors” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), David Evans is a versatile singing actor exploring the frontiers of the Western musical canon. Recent operatic roles include Chevalier de Danceny in Conrad Susa's The Dangerous Liaisons, Brother Jean in Justine F. Chen's Jeanne, Artemidoro in Salieri's La grotta di Trofonio, Tancredi in Monteverdi's Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, and Maese Pedro in Falla's El retablo de Maese Pedro.
David Evans enjoys an ongoing association with Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF), beginning in 2013 when he joined the mainstage cast of George Frideric Handel’s Almira as a member of BEMF’s Young Artist Training Program. Since, he has assisted Opera Director Gilbert Blin on three productions (Monteverdi’s Ulisse, G.F. Handel’s Acis and Galatea, the pastiche Versailles) and rejoined the BEMF mainstage cast in June 2017 for Campra’s Le carnaval de Venise. An experienced ensemble singer, he performs with many Boston-area organizations, including Emmanuel Music and the Church of the Advent. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts. |
