The Coral Esperança de Campo Grande, Cariacica/ES was founded in 1977 by Pastor Natalino Pieper as a choir of a newborn congregação luterana (Lutheran congregation). In 2005, Congregação Esperança invited conductor Axel Bergstedt to conduct the choir and start a music project in the congregation. With great dedication, the singers began to learn sheet music reading, voice emposition and vocal technique. Several singers are very dedicated and also take singing or instrument courses at the small evangelical music school that the congregation maintains.
In addition to J.S. Bach's Cantatas, the choir sings George Frideric Handel's oratorio The Messiahl, Johannes Brahms' German Requiem and various compositions by Axel Bergstedt, among others. The first result of this work is the CD "Aquecendo Corações", which contains the official music of the world movement Aquecendo Corações. As conductor Axel Bergstedt specialized in the works of J.S. Bach, the choir learned over time Cantatas from this great composer, including them in its repertoire.
A high point in the history of Coral Esperança was the debut of J.S. Bach's famous Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 in Portuguese, on December 3, 4 and 5, 2009, in Brasília, in co-operation with 5 other prominent choirs and three orchestras. Other important projects were , Johannes Brahms' German Requiem and a project with J.S. Bach's Cantata Acordai, os guardas chamam (BWV 140) and Franz Schubert's Mass in G with the Faculdade de Música do Espírito Santo FAMES.
