The American soporano, Elisabeth E. Engan, holds a degree in music from Mills College in Oakland, California, and has studied early vocal techniques with Julianne Baird.
Elisabeth Engan enjoys a varied career, with a repertoire that includes music from the middle ages to the present. Critically acclaimed for both her versatility and the purity of her sound, she is active as both an oratorio soloist and a chamber musician. She has performed and recorded with Theatre of Voices (Director: Paul Hillier), Magnificat, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and is one of only two women to have sung with Chanticleer. She holds a particular interest in the music of J.S. Bach, and has been heard in concert with the American Bach Soloists (Director: Jeffrey Thomas), California Bach Society, San Francisco Bach Choir, Sonoma County Bach Society, and Bach Aria Group in New York. She has been a soloist with the San Francisco Bach Festival, Carmel Bach Festival and Berkeley Early Music Festival.
Elisabeth Engan has recorded for Harmonia Mundi, Koch International, Reference Recordings, and the Musical Heritage Society. She currently lives in Richmond, California. |
