The Swiss soprano, Kornelia Eng, began to study at the Internationale Opernstudio Zürich just after finishing the exams. In 1992 she continued her singing studies at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with Roland Hermann and at the Opernschule there. Master-classes with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Ernst Haefliger and Claudio Nicolai completed her training.
In 1998, Kornelia Eng was designated by the magazine opera world as a "new generation artist of the year", and became ensemble member at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
Kornelia Eng's repertoire covers many well-known works from different periods, such as Felix Mendelssohn's Elias, J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Haydn's Schöpfung, Johannes Brahms' Requiem, Mozart's Krönungsmesse and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Concert engagements and Lieder recitals led her to the former Soviet Union, among other places. |
