The American tenor, composer and conductor, Elliott James-Ginn Encarnación, obtained his Bachelor of Musical Arts degree in in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music (2010); and his Master of Musical Arts degree in Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (2009-2012). He studied orchestral conducting privately with one of Leonard Bernstein’s former protégés, David Gilbert, while in New York as well as choral conducting with Robert Isaacs and Kristina Börger.
Elliott Encarnación is a self-trained cathedral tenor. He has been tenor soloists with with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (since 2015). He enjoys regular performances with The Artists’ Vocal Ensemble (AVE) under Jonathan Dimmock (September 2011-November 2014) as well as the San Francisco Symphony Chorus (since June 2013) and the newly founded Cappella SF under Ragnar Bohlin (since November 2013). He is a member of AGMA (since August 2013) and can be found singing nearly every weekend at Christ the Light Cathedral in Oakland (since October 2014). Since September 2019, he is also tenor at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. He has premièred various choral works, concerti and operas,
Elliott Encarnación has been Adjunct Professor at San Francisco State University (2015), Professor at San Francisco Conservatory of Music Precollege (2015-2018). He has been Musical Director of Opera Theatre Unlimited since February 2017, and Co-Founder/Artistic Director of Prodigal Opera Productions since February 2014. He currently lives in Lives in New York City. |
