Michael Elliscasis (Tenor)

Born: Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The German tenor, Michael Elliscasis, received his first musical training at the Tölzer Knabenchor, where he already appeared as alto soloist at many major opera houses. During this time he participated in various solo recordings, radio and television productions, and sang under Herbert von Karajan, James Levine, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Claudio Abbado and Wolfgang Sawallisch. From 1987 to 1992 he studied singing at the Richard Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich.

From 1989 to 1992 Michael Elliscasis was a permanent member of the "Gruppe für Alte Musik München" directed by Martin Zöbeley. As a scholarship holder of the Deutschen Bühnenvereins, he was engaged in 1991 at the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Since 1994, Michael Elliscasis acts as a free-lance opera and concert singer. Guest engagements have led him the Städtetheater Passau, the Städtischen Bühnen Augsburg, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Opera House in Cairo, the Theater an der Wien and the Bayerische Staatsoper. He has sung under such renowned conductors as Wolfgang Sawallisch, Marcello Viotti, Joshua Rifkin, Jun Märkl, Hanns-Martin Schneidt, Michael Halász, Michael Boder and Lord Yehudi Menuhin.
