The Austrian conductor and music educator, Markus Ellensohn, was born in Lustenau, and grew up in Götzis. At 8 years of age, he received his first violin lessons at Elmar Mayer. Subsequently, he studied at the Musikschule Mittleres Rheintal with Ildiko Horvath and at the Musikschule Dornbirn with István Hodász. He was a multiple winner of the competition "Jugend musiziert" and gained first orchestra experience as a longtime member of the Jugendsinfonieorchesters Dornbirn and the Collegium Instrumentale Dornbirn.
After graduation, Markus Ellensohn studied English and music education at the Pedagogical Akademie in Feldkirch and violin at the Landeskonservatorium of Vorarlberg with Professor Rudolf Koelman and Professor Roland Baldini. He completed his studies with the diploma and his activities started in 1992 as a teacher. He currently teaches violin at the music Musikschule in Lustenau, and at the Musikhauptschule in Bregenz. In the school year 2006-2007 he became mentor for teaching violin at the Landeskonservatorium of Vorarlberg.
In 2004, Markus Ellensohn became musical director of the Orchesterverein Götzis. Since 1991, he is a permanent member of the Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg. An active concert career with various orchestras and ensembles in Austria, Germany and Switzerland completes his activities. |
