The Norwegian pianist, Pål Eide, started playing the piano at the age of 8. At 10 he was a finalist in his first piano competition, and has since been awarded several prizes in the Nordic countries. After studies with Tom Ernst at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, he was awarded a Russian State Scholarship to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Tatiana Nikolayeva and later with Naum Starkmann. In the Soloist Class at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, he studied with José Ribera, and was also a pupil of Jiri Hlinka in Oslo.
Pål Eide has performed with orchestras, appeared in radio and television, participated in music festivals, and he has given numerous recitals in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Russia and Israel. He has established a reputation as one of the interesting Scandinavian pianists of his generation. The press has predicted him a promising future, calling him a coming star in the world of classical music.
