The Russian counter-tenor, Dmitry Egorov, received his first musical education at the National Choir School by Glinka-Kapella in Saint Petersburg. The he studied choirmaster and organist at the National Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory of Saint Petersburg (Class of 1995). Further studies led him as a guest student to the Westphalian Protestant Academy of Church music in Herford, Germany. In 2007 he started his studies at the Johannes-Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany (Class of 1995). In his first semester he already sang the part of Pisandro in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria at the Frankfurt Opera. During his studies he became prize-winner of the International Mastersinger Competition in Neustadt, Germany and of the International Competition of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, Germany.
Dmitry Egorov became a member of the young ensemble of the Staatstheater Mainz where he performed Holofernes in Alessandro Scarlatti’s La Giuditta and Scitalce in Gluck’s La Semiramide riconosciuta. In 2009 he was engaged by the Städtische Bühnen Münster for the part of Goffredo in George Frideric Handel’s Rinaldo and by the Staatstheater Mainz for the parts of the sorceress, the ghost and the first sailor in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. In 2010 he was invited to Halle (Saale) for Medoro in G.F. Handel’s Orlando, to the Staatstheater Mainz for Amadigi in the homonymos opera by G.F. Handel and to the Frankfurt Opera for the parts of the young doctor in Pfitzner’s Palestrina and the first witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.
In 2011 was published Dmitry Egorov's his first solo album “Il primo uomo” by Sony Music with arias by G.F. Handel and A. Scarlatti, featuring the Baroque orchestra La Stagione Frankfurt. He went on concert tour performing the J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 with the ensemble Nederlandse Bachvereniging. In 2012 he interpreted L’Umana fragilita and Pisandro at the Cologne Opera in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and was engaged by the Frankfurt Opera for the part of Nireno in G.F. Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto. In 2013 he sang the part of the First Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in the guest production of the Frankfurt Opera at the Edinburgh Festival and worked at the revival of the same opera at Frankfurt Opera. 2014 saw his very successful performance of Giulio Cesare in G.F. Handel’s homonymous opera at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt (Austria). Among others he was engaged by the Frankfurt Opera for the part of Ascalx in Georg Philipp Telemann’s Orpheus oder die wunderbare Beständigkeit der Liebe (Orpheus or the wonderful constancy of love).
In 2015 Dmitry Egorov took part in René Jacobs’ production of Emma and Eginhard at the Staatsoper Berlin. In 2016 he performed Nireno in Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Radamisto in Radamisto by G.F. Handel at the Frankfurt Opera, Puck in Oberon by C.M. von Weber at the Theater Giessen. 2017 saw him in the title role in Giulio Cesare in Egitto at the Theater Freiburg im Breisgau and in Fürth, as Eustazio in G.F. Handel’s Rinaldo and as Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell at the Oper Frankfurt. In 2018 he sang Azaria in Jan Dismas Zelenka’s cantata Il serpente di bronzo in Frankfurt. Oberon in Benjamin Britten’s opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Grand Théâtre de Tours, Olga in Tri Sestri by Péter Eötvös in Frankfurt. In 2019-2020 the Gärtnerplatz Theatre Munich invited him for their staged production of G.F. Handel's The Messiah. Medoro in G.F. Handel’s Orlando in Frankfurt was one of the highlights in 2021.
During his career he has performed numerous solo concerts and has worked with many different orchestras and conductors including GMD Paolo Carignani, Felice Venanzoni, Michael Schneider, Ton Koopman, Ari Rasilainen, Bernhard Forck, Konrad Junghänel, Attilio Cremonesi, Michael Hofstetter, René Jacobs. |
