The idea of a professional chamber orchestra in Edmond, Oklahoma was initiated by the talented and dedicated School of Music faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). During the spring and summer of 2013 all of the critical factors came together for the Edmond Chamber Orchestra (= EChO) to begin.
The nucleus of this orchestra came from the music faculty at UCO and developed into a partnership with UCO’s College of Fine Arts and Design. From that initial core group other musicians from the Oklahoma City area were contacted to develop an orchestra of 37 professional musicians all of whom accepted the invitation for their love of chamber music and an organization whose time had come. The Conductor of the EChO is John Clinton.
The mission of the Edmond Chamber Orchestra is to present highly artistic chamber music concerts that inspire, educate, entertain and enhance the quality of life in Edmond and the Oklahoma City area within a sound financial framework.
The inaugural concert of the Edmond Chamber Orchestra was on November 10, 2013 at the Armstrong Auditorium in Edmond, Oklahoma and featured the works of J.S. Bach, Igor Stravinsky and W.A. Mozart with guest artists Ryan and Paula Malone. The first concert of the second season (2014-2015) included chamber music (Dukas' Fanfare from La piere), and the original music to the movie To Kill A Mockingbird by Elmer Bernstein. |
