Founded at the time of the new millennium by Jean-Philippe Iracane, the Ensemble Baroque du Léman (= EBL) is composed of strings to which are added some wind instruments according to the repertory.
The EBL plays on original instruments, in order to join together all the favourable elements to restore with the Baroque music all its splendour and its magnificence. Specialised in the execution of the repertories of 16th and 17th century, it offers a panorama of the orchestral and vocal music of the Baroque (tuning 415 Hz) and traditional (tuning 430 Hz) periods.
With variable geometry, the EBL evolves the whole range of chamber music to the full orchestra. The core of the orchestra is composed of the first three violins, three second violins, two violas, two violoncellos, a double bass and an organ or harpsichord and wind instruments: two to three oboes and a bassoon. The EBL is made up French and French Swiss musicians, for the majority having carried out their training at the Centre de Musique Ancienne of Geneva or the Schola Cantorum of Basle. The orchestra, according to the parts, can accommodate coppers, drinking cups or any other instrument. |
