The Dutch tenor, Dolf Drabbels, started his singing career as a boy chorister before pursuing his study of Classical Music at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem under the guidance of Harry van Berne. After his graduation in 2006, he continued his studies at the Messiaen Academy for his Master ensemble singing. He has participated in master-classes by, amongst others, Roberta Alexander, Beryl Forster and David Wilson-Johnson. Nowadays he is coached by Hanneke deWit and Geert Berghs.
Shortly before his graduation in 2006, Dolf Drabbels made his operatic debut in a leading role as Ecclitico in Haydn's Il mondo della Luna at the Städtische Bühnen in Münster, Germany. Dolf Drabbel has performed solo’s in several masses and concerts; amongst others the in the Requiem of W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion BWV 245 and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Monteverdi's Mariavespers. Next to it he sang many solo’s in cantatas of J.S. Bach and several other works of Haydn, Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Scarlatti, and Felix Mendelssohn. He performed abroad in 2011, as a tenor solo in J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion BWV 245. Back in the Netherlands, he actively participated in musical ensembles such as the Schatkamer Opera in Zwolle and Muziektheater de Plaats in Arnhem.
As soloist Dolf Drabbels has worked with conductors Klaas Stok, Etienne Siebens and Jan Willem de Vriend. On his repertoire there is also opera and music theatre. As ensemble singer Drabbels works with choirs as Cappella Amsterdam, Nederlands Kamerkoor, Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Consensus Vocalis (Director: Klaas Stok), Collegium Ad Mosam and Laurens Collegium Rotterdam
Dolf Drabbels is currently works on a freelance basis, frequently singing with professional music ensembles such as Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss), Capella Isalana and Consensus Vocalis (Director of both: Klaas Stok) and Collegium Ad Mosam (led by Huub Ehlen). |
