Roland Douatte was a French conductor and violinist. Self-taught violinist, he founded his own chamber orchestra, the Collegium de Musicum de Paris, in 1952. In 1967 he became Music Director of the Festival du Marais.
Roland Douatte is one of the first conductors to take an interest and awareness of Antonio Vivaldis Four Seasons and other music from the Baroque period, such as Symphonies pour les soupers du Roi (Symphonies and for the King’s Supper) by the French composer Michel Richard Delalande (1657-1726). He made numerous recordings with his ensemble, including J.S. Bach’s complete harpsichord concertos with Ruggero Gerlin, Huguette Dreyfus, Nicole Hénon, Michèle Tedeschi and Blandine Verlet. |
