The Canadian pianist, Maria Dolnycky, graduated with Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from McGill University, Montreal in piano performance under the tutelage of Ljerka Wollmarker-Blume. The recipient of a full scholarship from the Alban Berg Foundation, she furthered her post-graduate studies in Vienna, Austria with Walter Fleischmann at the Hochschule für Musik (State Academy of Music). Maria has also studied under the guidance of André-Sébastien Savoie, Karl Engel, Karl-Ulrich Schnabel and Janina Fialkowska. She is the winner of the Debut Young Concert Artists Series competition and her recitals have been broadcast on CBC Radio Music from Montreal and Radio-Canada Jeunes Artistes.
A dedicated teacher, Maria Dolnycky maintains a teaching studio in Toronto and is also a member of the Royal Conservatory College of Examiners. She performs regularly as soloist, chamber musician and collaborative artist. CD recordings include "Poetic Moods" - a collection of seven 20th Century composers from Ukraine, and Lullaby For a Snowy Night - Holiday music from near and far. A fascination with the visual arts led her to the launch of "Music on Canvas", a dynamic concert series in Toronto which aims to present unique programs, occasionally blending live music with artwork. |
