The German mezzo-soprano, Anna Bineta Diouf, studied since 2006 Singing and Pedagogies of Singing at Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Professor Sabine Ritterbusch and Opera at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien (HMTM) Hannover. She now studies Soloklasse with Marina Sandel and Lied with Jan Philip Schulze at HMTM Hannover. Besides her studies, she has participated in master-classes with Grace Bumbry, Gerd Uecker and Charles Spencer among others. During her studies, she focused on opera quite early: She made her debut in 2008 at Landestheater Detmold as Flosshilde in Rheingold and the roles she performed on stage during her studies include Orfeo by Gluck, Ottavia in Monteverdi's L’Incoronazione di Poppea and Hänsel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel). In 2011 she won the 2nd prize of the Paula Salomon Lindberg Competition “Das Lied”. She has won several scholarships such as the scholarship of the German Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes), of Jütting Stiftung Stendal and of Walter und Charlotte Hamel Stiftung.
Having graduated in 2012, Anna Bineta Diouf became a member of the opera studio of the Staatsoper Hanonver, where she will continue performing as a guest singer during the 2014-2015 season. Among the roles she sang at the Staatsoper Hanover are Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto and Modestina in Il Viaggio a Reims as well as roles in contemporary operas such as Frau Bim in Edward Rushton's Im Schatten des Maulbeerbaums (2008) and the Glückskind in Stefan Hanke's Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren (2012).
As a soloist Anna Bineta Diouf a focuses on the baroque oratory repertoire and – on the other hand- on the Lied repertoire: Her very broad Repertoire includes early Renaissance lute songs as well as French mélodies, English, Russian and Scandinavian songs, the unique German Kunstlied of the Romantic period and works of modern and contemporary composers. |
