Frédéric Desenclos (Organ)

Born: France

The French organist, Frédéric Desenclos, came from a family of musicians. He studied organ with Gaston Litaize and with André Isoir. He won several first prizes, and complemented his musical education by studies music writing and history of music at the C.N.S.M. of Paris as well as harpsichord and chamber music. He was prize-winner at the European Organ Competition of Bolton (UK, 1992) and the International Orgel Konkurrence d'Odense (Denmark, 1994).

Frédéric Desenclos holds post at the Chapelle Royale de Versailles and professor of organ at the E.N.M. de Orsay and the C.N.R. de Versailles. His interest in the basso continuo and his knowledge of the French music led him to take the functions of organist-consultant at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.

Frédéric Desenclos' activity as concert performer has led him to many prestigious musical venues: Amsterdam, Haarlem, Denver, Gent, La Roque d’Anthéron, Maastricht, Nantes, Poitiers, Saintes, St-Michel-en-Thiérache, Toulouse, Versailles, Zaragoza...

A big part of his recordings is devoted to the Baroque repertoire, which he has recorded for various labels, such as Triton, Auvidis, Hortus, EMI-Virgin Classics.
