The French pianist, Danièle Dechenne, received her first piano instruction in Paris as a six-year girl. She was a pupil of Lazare Lévy, who taught her at the Conservatoire National de Paris. She received a Prime Minister Prix with conclusion of her studies. Later she received several international prizes in Bozen, Vercelli and Geneva.
Danièle Dechenne's appearances brought her to Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, Indonesia, the Soviet Union and the USA. In 1959 she got married with her husband, the cellist Jean Decroos, who won the 1st Sonata Prize at the Geneva International Competition.
Numerous recordings of Danièle Dechenne have appeared on various record labels. Among which should be mentioned the Ravel and Robert Schumann concertos with Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Partitas of J.S. Bach, Sonatas of Scarlatti etc.
Danièle Dechenne is a main teacher at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. She is also the pianist of the famous Guaneri Trio, which has recorded numerous trios on LP's and CD's, including all piano trios of Johannes Brahms, Camille Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Felix Mendelssohn, etc. |
