The Italian conductor and organist, David De Lucia, graduated in Parma in organ and composition. At the same time, having completed his classical studies, he enrolled at the University in Padua and was dedicated to deepening his Renaissance and Baroque repertoire. This was followed by several years of courses of easrly music, Baroque organ and harpsichord with teachers as Jean Claude Zehender, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Harald Vogel, Christopher Stanbridge, Andrea Marcon.
David De Lucia performs as organist and harpsichordist, and works with various vocal and instrumental ensembles, as continuo, a choir and concert master. He was for some years a member of the artistic committee of the prestigious International Choral Competition "Cecilia Seghizzi" in Gorizia. For many years, he was the continuo player of Orchestra Barocca 'G.B. Tiepolo' (of Friuli Venezia Giulia), with which he has undertaken in February 2003 an ambitious and comprehensive multi-year project of performing over two hundred cantatas and other sacred works of J.S. Bach. He is recognized as capable improviser of Renaissance and Baroque music and is considered a specialist and a thorough knowledge of the repertoire and performance practice of the Renaissance. In 2000 he created the Ensemble Orologio with the intention of forming a true renaissance orchestra for the music of the 16th and 17th centuries. He has given numerous concerts in prestigious venues both as a conductor and as a musician always facing earlier repertories from the "Flemish" to Mozart. He has worked together, as a continuo or conductor, with famous and influential artists of the international music scene: Gustav Leonhardt, Emma Kirkby, Bruce Dickey, Doron Sherwin, Giorgio Fava, Paul Faldi, Furio Zanasi, Daniel Carnovich, Sergio Foresti, Mario Cecchetti. |
