The French counter-tenor, actor, dancer, musical director and music teacher, Bertrand Dazin, was from the age of 7 until 1995 a member of , he was part of the Petits chanteurs de Lille and Maîtrise Boréale directed by Bernard Dewagtere. HAe studied at Lycée Jean Rostand in Roubaix, France (Class of 1993); Lycée Frédéric Ozanam in Lille (Class of 1995); Conservatoire de Lille (Class of 1998 · Opera); Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles (Class of 2000 · Baroque). He performed regularly at the Opéra de Lille and other major European music venues. Then he met the stage director, Daniel Fatous, and foiund himself once powered by the world of performing arts, in such diverse jobs as lighting, stage manager, actor and assistant stage director (theater, dance, cinema and Opera).
After years spent in the performing arts (theater and dance), Bertrand Dazin revived the soloist singing through various experiences in recital or staged at the theater since 1994. After the CNR de Lille and Versailles, in the class of Philippe Balloy and Gaël de Kerret, he was accepted to the Centre de Musique Baroque, where he attended the master-classes of interpretation, vocal technique, dance and Baroque gestures, among others with Howard Crook, N. Barker, Maarten Koningsberger, J. Corréas, Paul Esswood, S. Intrieri, F. Deniaux, B. Cramoix.. He was especially a student of James Bowman sponsoring since 1995, as well as of Guillemette Laurens.
Bertrand Dazin has worked with great conductors such as Jean-Claude Malgoire, Olivier Schneebeli, Laurence Equilbey, Michel Laplénie, Frans Brüggen, Christophe Rousset, Michel Piquemal, Martin Gester, Pierre Cao, Paul Colléaux, Gabriel Garrido, Marc Minkowski.... on the other hand, he performs contemporary repertoire with works written especially for him by composers such as Jean-Marc Toillon, Omar Yagoubi, Dea Loher, Michel Smith., Michel Bosc, Jacques Derégniocourt, Julien Bros ..
Since 2000, Bertrand Dazin appears in a duet with James Bowman "Pastime with good compagny" English Court music recital (Henry XIII, Byrd, Dowland ...) and other four programmes with duets for two counter-tenors: Blow / Purcell / Monteverdi / Heinrich Schütz / George Frideric Handel / Giovanni Battista Pergolesi with a their ensemble and continuo or with orchestra La Cathédrale Invisible, which he founded in 1995 (labeled by the Conseil Général du Nord). He can be heard in recitals, including: Jesuit French music in duo with Bernard Delétré; English music J. Dowland with lute and narrator of Shakespeare's Sonnets; Recital in Geneva with Fabian Schoffrin; Duo setting mirroring contemporary to Baroque music with James Bowman and the Orchestre de Lyon conducted by P. Fournier (Lille, Lyon, Oxford, Bournemouth ...); Antonio Vivaldi & G.B. Pergolesi recital with the Orchestre de Tchècquie création contemporaine conducted by Paolo Gato; Recital on the art of the castrati.

Bertrand Dazin has enriched his art of singing with other techniques: dance, theater, cinema, martial arts. He seeks to mix genres. He has the physical ability to be more than a voice, climb, dance, play, merge with an aerial performer in the field of circus in particular. He currently lives in Paris, France. |
