The Ameriucan baritone, Lawson Daves, studied at Pillow Academy in Greenwood, Mississippi (2003-2009). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (2009-2013); and his Master of Music degree in Early Music Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts (2013-2015).
Lawson Daves enjoys a varied performing career including opera, oratorio, musical theatre, and chamber music. Recent highlights include the world premiere of the opera Sleeping Beauty (2014) and A Hand of Bridge with the Nahant Music Festival; The Play of Daniel and the medieval Carmina Burana with the Boston Camerata; and The Old Maid and the Thief and Dido and Aeneas, both at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. In June 2014, he participtaed in a performance of several J.S. Bach's cantatas with the Emmanuel Music Orchestra conducted by Donald Wilkinson at the Nahant Music Festival. In 2016, he participated in the documentary "Bach Star Cafe: A girl, a dad... and some coffee" with a dedicated ensemble of Longy School of Music graduate students.
Lawson Daves is also an educator, having served on the voice faculties of the Community Music School of the University of Alabama and the EKS Music School in Quincy, teaching voice, musical theatre, historical performance and music theory. He has also worked as Faculty and Student Support Administrator at the Boston Unversity. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts. |
