The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Wolfgang Dallmann, was an institute in Heidelberg. Over 30 years (1959-1989) he taught organ at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik. He impressed with his high musical quality, and his artistic sense of responsibility not only generations of students from all over Germany and abroad, but also gave the university a face as a training center for organ playing at the highest level.
Wolfgang Dallmann also played as organist of the Bachvereins (Bach Society) in countless concerts, provided with a distinctive accent. At the Lutherkirche, which was his artistic home next to his teaching at the Hochschule, he played in the concert series, the complete organ works of Michael Praetorius, Dietrich Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, and especially of his teacher Johann Nepomuk David. His work as a composer was for Dallmann a life's work.
With unwavering loyalty and impeccable quality, Wolfgang Dallmann performed the rich contrapuntal music not only in Heidelberg, but in concerts all over the world. He represented the German organ music on numerous concert tours in all continents. He was awarded the the State Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuzes) as an acknowledgment of his artistic work. |
