Deutsches Radio Kammerorchester (= DRKO; English: German Radio Orchestra; AKA: Rundfunk-Kammerorchester Köln) was established 1975 in the studios of the West German Radio (WDR). The DRKO regularly festive concerts with renowned soloists both nationally and internationally. Performing Oratorios, Cantatas, Passions and contemporary works with various choirs also compromises a large part of its activities.
The DRKO has already performed to great acclaim at the Flanders Festival (Belgium), Carinthian Summer (Austria), Festival Pro Arte (Italy) and the Schwetzinger Festspiele (Germany). The orchestra has made various appearances for the German Television and Radio. Among its latest projects was a special Holocaust Memorial Day concert at the United Nations’ headquarters in Geneva in January 2011. The Orchestra is invited to perform again in 2012 for UNICEF in Paris. |
