The American soprano and scientist, Michele Navarro Currenti, obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Brain and Cognitive Science from University of Rochester, New York (September 2013-May 2018); her Bachelor of Music degree in Applied Voice Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, as a student of Katherine Ciesinski (September 2013-May 2018; Simultaneously pursued a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science); and her Master of Music in Voice and Opera from University of Maryland College Park, Maryland, as a student of Delores Ziegler (August 2018-April 2020). She was the First Prize Winner of the Camille Coloratura Competition (2019). She currently studies for Master of Arts degree in Speech Language Pathology at Kean University Graduate School in Hillside, New Jersey (since 2022), where she is also Graduate Research Assistant.
Michele Currenti has sung the roles of the Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen (Maryland Opera Studio, 2020); Dalinda in George Frideric Handel's Ariodante (Maryland Opera Studio, 2019); First Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (as a Virtual Studio Artist with Opera Neo, 2020); Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (NJ Vocal Arts Collaborative, 2019), Ismail in World Premiere of Hajar (Maryland Opera Studio, 2019) and covering the role of Rose Maurrant in Weill's Street Scene (Maryland Opera Studio, 2019). She was a soloist with the Eastman School of Music: Bach Cantata Series and Maryland Bach Cantata Series, premiered Joel Thompson’s La Lluvia with the Yale Philharmonia (2019), and a soloist at Christ the King Anglican Church in Alexandria, Virginia (September 2018-September 2020).
Michele Currenti has worked as Voice Teacher at Belvoir Terrace in Lenox, MA (May-August 2017); Peer Career Advisor at University of Rochester (January 2015-May 2018); Choral Scholar at Church of the Ascension, Rochester, New York (September 2017-July 2018); Programming and Creative Intern at Little Theatre Cafe Intern at WXXI Classical 91.5 (May-August 2018); Graduate Assistant and Secondary Voice Instructor at University of Maryland (September 2018-July 2020); Voice Instructor at Denville Music Academy in Denville, New Jersey (since July 2020); Cantor at Our Lady Of Czestochowa Church in Jersey City, New Jersey (since October 2020). In her free time, she loves to run, hike, and try new bread recipes. |
