The American baritone and music teacher, Paul Cummings, obtained his BME degree in Music Education and Voice Perfeormance at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois (1980-1985); and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of Texas at Austin. During his studies at Bradley he was the Music Director of the Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity for two years; worked as Music Director at the Newmann Center, and later worked at St. Mark's Church.
Paul Cummings has been a soloist for the Los Angeles Bach Festival, Long Beach Opera, Musica Angelica, Pacific Composers Forum, and a guest soloist for the UC Irvine opera department. He has appeared on 14 recordings (Telarc, Harmonia Mundi, and RCM labels), in projects ranging from medieval to children’s music. He was a longtime member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Opera Chorus.
Paul Cummings was Music Teacher at Westside Neighborhood School in Los Angeles, California and Larchmont Charter School. He currently teaches singing, movement, instrumental music and improvisation to grade school children, using the Orff Schulwerk method at Citizens of the World Charter in Kansas City, Missouri. |
