The American soprano, Emily Curtin Culler, studied at Youth Performing Arts High School in Louisville, Kentucky (1996-1997); and at Eastern High School in Middletown, Kentucky (Class of 1998). She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance degree from Samford University in 2002; her Master of Music degre in Vocal Performance degree from Boston University (BU) in 2006; and her Master of Science degree in Arts Administration degree with a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from Boston University in 2013. She also completed a special course of study in vocal performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England (2002).
Emily Culler is an active soloist, chorister, and chamber musician in the Boston area. Since 2007, she is a core member of the Lorelei Ensemble, a nine-voiced women’s chamber group that is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for women’s voices by exposing lesser-known early music from the Medieval through Baroque periods, while collaborating with living composers to produce innovative programming that speaks to a wide audience. Lorelei Ensemble’s highly-acclaimed first commercial album, live.know.love., was released in February, 2014.
Emily Culler is also a non-profit and arts management professional specializing in development, campaign planning, community outreach, and donor/alumni relations. She began her arts management career in Birmingham, Alabama with Alabama Operaworks, the Metropolitan Arts Council, and the Virginia Samford Theatre. In Boston, she has worked at the BU Albert and Jesse Danielsen Institute (2004-2007), the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (July 2007-2012), and WGBH (November 2012-May 2015) where she was Manager of Campaign Planning and Board Relations. Since June 2015, she is Director of Development at Interlochen Public Radio in Interlochen, Michigan. She has been a member of the Marsh Chapel Choir (Director: Scott Allen Jarrett) since 2005. She is married to Michael Culler and currently lives in Interlochen, Michigan. |
