Lucy Crowe (Soprano)

Born: Staffordshire, England

The English soprano, Lucy Crowe, studied at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2002 she received the Royal Overseas Gold Medal, and in 2005 won second prize in Kathleen Ferrier Awards and was made a Wigmore Young Artist.

Lucy Crowe is rapidly establishing herself as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. In demand in opera, concert and recital she has sung with The English Concert under Andrew Manze and Laurence Cummings, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment under Richard Egarr, The Sixteen under Harry Christophers, The King’s Consort under Robert King, City of London Sinfonia under Richard Hickox and Trevor Pinnock, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Sakari Oramo and Paul Daniel, Scottish Chamber Orchestra under Sir Charles Mackerras and Les Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski.

Lucy Crowe made her debuts with Scottish Opera as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and English National Opera as Poppea in Agrippina both to great critical acclaim. Other opera engagements include Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Elisa in Il Re Pastore for Garsington Opera, Susanna for Opera North, Drusilla in The Coronation of Poppea for English National Opera and Nanetta in Verdi's Falstaff for Scottish Opera. Future engagements includes Belinda in Dido and Aeneas and Sophie at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Already in demand as a recitalist, Lucy Crowe has given recitals at Wigmore Hall and at the Belfast Festival, St Martin in the Fields, the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Chelsea Arts Club and the National Portrait Gallery. Among her pupils and/or singers who have attended her master-classes: Hannnah Dienes-Williams (Soprano).
