The German tenor and choral conductor, Florian Michael Cramer, began his musical studies at the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben and the Knabenchor Capella Vocalis under Eckhard Weyand. He studied at the Musikhochschule Freiburg first conducting with Professor Klaus Hövelmann and Professor Hans-Michael Beuerle (diploma in 2006), then singing with Professor Reginaldo Pinheiro, singing methodology with Professor Bernd Göpfert and is a member of the Institut für Musiktheater (Opera School) with Professor Gerd Heinz and Professor Alexander Schulin. Important impulses he owes also working with conductors such as Winfried Toll, Wolfgang Schäfer, Hermann Max and Frieder Bernius. He also attended master-classes with Margreet Honig, René Jacobs, the Hilliard Ensemble and the vocal accompanist Helmut Deutsch.
Florian Cramer took over rehearsals, among others, with the Camerata Vocale Freiburg, Rheinische Kantorei and Philharmonia Chor Stuttgart. Since 2003 he directs the Evangelische Studentenkantorei Freiburg. An essential aspect of his work as a choral conductor lies in the voice training and vocal developmen. He has brought to the stage demanding a cappella programs and J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Schwanengesang by Heinrich Schütz, Marienvesper by Claudio Monteverdi and Felix Mendelssohn's oratorio Paulus. Here, the Ars-Viva-Ensemble for the music of the late Baroque and Romantic eras and the renowned Early Baroque Ensemble Les cornets noirs have been instrumental partner of the Evangelische Studentenkantorei Freiburg.
In summer 2010, Florian Cramer succeeded Professor Martin Schmidt as Artistic Director of the Neuen Basler Kammerchor.
In addition to his participation in opera productions of the Instituts für Musiktheater der MH Freiburg (Monostatos & First Armed Man in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in the summer of 2008, Major Murgatroyd in Gilbert & Sullivan's Patience in 2009), Florian Cramer's main focus is in the Evangelist parts in J.S. Bach's oratorios. The tenor parts in the oratorios of G.F. Handel, F. Mendelssohn, Monteverdi and W.A. Mozart's Requiem are also part of his repertoire. He has performed as a singer in Germany and in Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Italy, Brazil, Canada, Japan and South Korea. |
