Curtis Cook (Bass)

Born: Little Rock, Arkansas, USA

The American bass, Curtis Cook, received his Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma City University in 1992, and his Master of Music from Indiana University in 1998. In 2002-2003 he studied with David Meyer.

Curtis Cook has sung has sung much of the operatic bass repertoire. He has performed with opera companies including The Oklahoma City Opera and Musical Theatre Company, Opera in the Ozarks, Tulsa Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Dayton Opera, Indianapolis Opera, and on the Indiana University opera stage. In 1999, he made his European opera debut singing in Igor Stravinsky's The Flood and Threni: The Lamentations of Jeremiah, as a soloist with Theatre of Voices at Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam, receiving critical acclaim. This engagement, which was in June 1999, had a set of performances in December. In 2002, he sang the role of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte on a German tour with the Krakow State Opera and the Festival Europäischer Musik, an engagement arranged by David Meyer. Cook sings regularly with Paul Hillier and the Theatre of Voices, and can be heard on many of their Harmonia Mundi (USA) recordings.
