The German conductor, Kristian Commichau, studied school music and conducting at the Berlin's Hochschule der Künste from 1982 to 1988. During his studies he already conducted the opera Pollicino by Henze at the Deutschen Oper, Berlin.
The work with authentic instruments after Historical Informed Performance practice and the music of the 20th century are his artistic emphasis. Concerts with various orchestras and choirs led him abroad to other European countries, as well as to Israel, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, America, India and South America.
Since 1987 Kristian Commichau leads the Vocal-Concertisten, a chamber choir, with which he won various prizes in his homeland and abroad. So far he has prepared and pefrormed with this chamber choir works as Matthäus-Passion by J.S. Bach (BWV 244) and Heinrich Schütz, The Messiah und Israel in Egypt by George Frideric Handel, the Requiem by W.A. Mozart and the Deutsche Requiem by Johannes Brahms.
In 1995 Kristian Commichau was appointed as a professor for conducting at the Universität Potsdam. There he leads the choir Campus Cantabile and the orchestra Sinfonietta Potsdam of the Universität Potsdam. From the 2000 season he is a guest conductor of the Mecklenburger Kammersolisten, a chamber orchestra of the Norddeutschen Philharmonie Rostock.
To his choir and orchestra work belong also opera productions, such as Orpheus und Eurydike by C.W. Gluck and King Arthur by H. Purcell. He has co-operated with artists such as Christine Schäfer, Christiane Oelze, Thomas Quasthoff, Walter Jens, Friedrich Schorlemmer und Thekla Carola Wied. |
