The Macedonian double-bass player and arranger, Gjorgji Cincievski, began playing the double-bass at the age of 15 studying with Professor Blagoj Marotov, at the State Music High School “Ilija Nikolovski - Luj” - Skopje, Macedonia, where he finished these initial studies with the highest performance marks. In 2001 he continued his education at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, UK. At the RNCM, Gjorgji finished with distinction both his Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in the class of the world renowned teacher and performer, ProfESSOR Jiri Hudec. In addition to his excellence in performance, he was awarded the prestigious Professional Performance Diploma, obtaining it with distinction. He was the fifth double-bass player ever in the history of the RNCM to obtain such a prestigious diploma. After completing his studies, he became the first ever Junior Fellow in Double bass at the RNCM, which later gave him the opportunity to become assistant to Professor Jiri Hudec and Prof. Roberto Carrillo-Garcia, and later, himself becoming Junior Tutor in Double Bass. During and after completing his studies he privately took many lessons and attended many workshops and master-classes from some of the world most advanced double-bass soloist such as: Bozo Paradzik, Boguslaw Furtok, Josef Niederhammer, Leon Bosch, Yoshio Nagashima, David Heyes, Teppo Hauta-aho and many others.
As a versatile musician Gjorgji Cincievski has performed with some of the world leading orchestras such as Radio Symphonie Orchester Vienna, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (Manchester), Hallé Orchestra (Manchester), Opera North (Leeds), Northern Sinfonia (New Castle), Manchester Camerata, London Mozart Players (UK), Stavanger Symfoniorkester (Norway), Malmo Symphony Orchestra (Sweden), Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (Latvia), and others, as well as some of the world leading soloist and conductors such as: Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Kurt Masur, Fabio Luisi, Sir Mark Elder CBE, Douglas Boyd, Gianandrea Noseda, Vassily Sinaisky, Edo de Waart, Yutaka Sado, Plácido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazón, Pierre-Henri Xuereb , Dejan Bogdanovic, Manfred Stilz and many others. In 2003 he attended the Pacific Music Festival in Japan where in 2004 he was re-invited as one of the outstanding participants and there performed Igor Stravinsky’s “Soldiers Tale” with the principal players from the Wiener Philharmoniker.
Gjorgji Cincievski has taken part in many prestigious festivals around the world such as: Salzburger Festspiele (Austria), 27 Cantiere Internazionale D’Arte di Montepulciano (Italy), Vienna Modern Festival (Austria), Rydale Festival (UK), Victoria International Arts Festival (Gozo, Malta), Festival De Association Musicale des Deux Fleuves (France) and others. He was many times awarded with awards such Sir Charles Halle Award - England, Didsbury Emmanuel Solo Recital Prize (England), The Eugene Cruft Double Bass Prize-England, and 1st Prize in 36th State Music Competition in Macedonia.
Apart from being an active performer, Gjorgji Cincievski has continued with his educational work and has held numerous master-classes and workshops in UK,Germany, France, Latvia,Cuba, Italy, China and Malta.
Gjorgji Cincievski has done many successfully awarded transcriptions, including J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), Sergei Rachmaninov's Elegy Op. 3 No. 1, Johannes Brahms' Piano Trio Op. 8, D. Popper's Requiem Op. 66 for three cellos and piano and others, some of which have been lately published by Hofmeister Editions.
In 2014, Gjorgji Cincievski has become artist endorser by Pirastro strings. Since 2010, he is the Principal / Solo double bass player with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. |
