The French pianist, Françoise Chaffiaud, recived first prize of piano unanimously at the Conservatoire National de Région de Toulouse, and at 11 entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. As a pupil of of Jean Hubeau, Pierre Revel, Norbert Dufourcq and Geneviève Joy, she received there various rewards (deciphering, chamber music, composition) and obtained the prize of piano in the class of Yvonne Lefébure. At l’École Normale de Musique she studied with Alfred Cortot and obtained the diploma of teaching.
As Professor at the Paris Conservatoire, Françoise Chaffiaud currently teaches at the Conservatoire National de Région de Nice. Since 1991, she organises master-classes. She is also a member of international jurys.
Francoise Chaffiaud plays under the baton of renowned conductors, such as Roberto Benzi, Pierre Dervaux, Édouard Van Remoortel, Philippe Bender, Pol Mule, Louis Frémaux, Luben Yordanoff, and Pièrre Colombo. She appeared in concerts and recitals of French music on radio and television programmes, in France and aboroad. As master of song, and director of the choir at the Opera of Nice, she has worked with Katia Ricciarelli, Jose Carreras, Jose Van Dam, Montserrat Caballe and André Esposito. With Salle Gaveau she performed the Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussions by Claude Bolling and took part in the world premiere of works by the contemporary composers Dimitri Christoff and Sergio Calligaris.
For several years, Françoise Chaffiaud has given animated master-classes and played at the Festival Thousand-Sources in Corrèze during July. Inter alia projects for the season 2006-2007, she will give master-classes and recitals in China.
The Academy Charles-Cros selected her recording of Mozart, L.v. Beethoven, Schubert. Diapason noted “her rigour and her simplicity” in her CD Works for Keyboard of J.S. Bach (Syrius). The Magazine Piano elected her musical interpretations twice. The musicologist Brigitte Massin speaoke about “flexibility, fluidity, search for an interior expression to the sound”. |
