The Italian harpsichordist, Salvatore Carchiolo, studied harpsichord and historical keyboards at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam, with Bob van Asperen, under whose guidance he obtained a concert diploma.
Salvatore Carchiolo's concert activity has led him to perform in the most prestigious Italian and foreign concert venues (France, Spain, Germany, Austria, the Nertherlands, Belgium, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Japan, etc.). He has played with the major Italian chamber and orchestral groups specialized in the Baroque repertoire, including Europa Galante (Director: Fabio Biondi), Accademia Bizantina (Director: Ottavio Dantone), Il Giardino Armonico (Director: Giovanni Antonini), Concerto Italiano (Director: Rinaldo Alessandrini) and others. He has recorded for the record labels RCA-BMG Ariola, Opus 111, Stradivarius, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Naive, Agogique, Fuga Libera, BIS, Da Vinci, Bongiovanni.
Salvatore Carchiolo is the holder of the harpsichord chair at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali "Vincenzo Bellini" in Catania. He combines his musicological activity with that of concerts and has published, among other things, a fundamental study on the performance practice of the Italian basso continuo (A perfection of wonderful harmony of the 18th century). |
