The American bassonist and clarinettist, Michael Campbell, studied with Stephen Maxym, former Principal Bassoon of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, New York.
Michael Campbell was started his professional life as a a bassoonist. Until the early 1980's he played bassoon in the Brooklyn Philharmonic. He was also in the Army Band, and has played the Recorder and Renaissance wind instruments in early music groups. He was the bass clarinettist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic for 33 years.
Apart from his orchestral career, Michael Campbell has also given a series of recitals with Professor David Gwilt of Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also composed Variations on Silver threads among the gold, for two bassoons with the accompaniment of piano, band or orchestra (1983). |
