Motettenchor
Founded: 1990: Chemnitz, Germany
The Motettenchor was founded at the end of 1990 at the TU Chemnitz and since then is directed by Peter Krone. The enthusiasm and commitment of the members made it possible that the young choir could make its debut in a chamber concert only three months after its creation. The singers found immediately much sympathy and applause from the public, which gave them the courage to appear very soon in further concerts with fastidious works. Beside students and workers of the university pupils and working persons of wide variety of occupations meet in the Motettenchor, which find joy and relaxation in common singing. The Motettenchor der TU Chemnitz performs predominantly choral-symphonic. In addition a-capella works are included in its programmes. The choir consists of 35-40 members.
The choir receives special note by constant close co-operation with the university orchestra Collegium Musicum. It makes possible the preparation and performance of choral-symphonic literature, like the Gloria of Antonio Vivaldi, the Krönungsmesse of Mozart, the C major Mass of L.v. Beethoven, or J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248). The very successful concerts of the Motettenchor in Chemnitz and Augustusburg led to concert tours to the University of Bayreuth, to Düsseldorf and Altenburg, to various Dutch cities as well as to Paris. On invitation of the C.M.B.A. to the International Music Days for Young's Sorrent 1998, the Motettenchor and the Collegium Musicum appeared successfully with a Bach programme in Naples and Sorrent. |
