The German baritone, Thomas Busch, studied first Evangelist church music, afterwards at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf and singing at the Folkwanghochschule in Essen. He participated in master-classes with Kurt Equiluz in Austria, with Elio Battaglia in Italy and Andreas Schmidt at the Internationalen Bach-Akademie Stuttgart. He received important encouragement by working with Ulf Bästlein. In 1997 he was scholarship holder of the "Società dell´Opera Buffa" in Milan, and in 1998 won the 2nd prize for singing with the "Concorso Internazionale Angelica Catalani" in Italy.
Apart from his activity as oratorio singer, which covers nearly the entire range of the repertoire, Thomas Busch has also sung at the opera houses in Düsseldorf and Aachen, as well as in Italy in Lecco and Livorno. Besides he dedicates himself with special devotion to the Lieder singing. Apart from the most important Lieder cycles such as Schubert's Winterreise or Schumann's Dichterliebe, he regularly performs 20th century works, in his homeland and abroad.
