The Swiss tenor, Remy Burnens, studied English Language and Literature at Universität Bern (2010-2012); and solo singing studied with Peter Brechbühler at the Hochschule Luzern, where he obtained his Bachelor of Music degree (2012-2015). In 2017, he obtained a Master of Arts degree degree in Music Performance with top marks. Coachings with Malcolm Walker in Paris, as well as various master-classes (Roger Vignoles, Barthold Kuijken, et al) supplement his musical education. He recieved a scholarship from the Migros Kulturprozent 2017, as well as a scholarship of the "Friedl Wald Stiftung Basel" (2015) and is winner of the Edwin Fischer Memorial Prize 2017 and the prize of the "Foundation for young musical talents Meggen" (Stiftung für junge Musiktalente Meggen) 2016-2017.
Remy Burnens performs regularly as a soloist in all of Switzerland. His repertoire ranges from the Passions and Cantatas of J.S. Bach to the Masses and Oratorios of the Classical and Romantic periods. An avid performer of songs, he regularly performs Lied recitals. Apart from focuses on German and French art songs, he is working with pianist Andrew Dunscombe to bring English romantic songs to a wider audience.
In 2014 Remy Burnens gave his operatic debut as Nemorino in a student production of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore (Heubühne Meilen). He also appeared as Anton in Gluck's Der bekehrte Trunkenbold (OperaBox), Beppe in Donizetti's Rita and Tiberge and young Chevalier Des Grieux in a new production of Massenet's opera Le Portrait de Manon (Heubühne Meilen). In the 2017-2018 season, he performed the role of the White Minister in Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre (Luzerner Theater) and Tonio in Donizetti's Daughter of the Regiment (Tonhalle Wil). He currently lives in Zürich, Switzerland. |
