The Russian pianist, Vladimir Bunin, is the son of Russian composer and carrier of the State Prize of the USSR, Vladimir Vasilyevich Bunin. Vladimir’s musical training he received in Moscow from 1952 to 1960 at the Music School, from 1960 to 1964 at the Music School of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from 1964 to 1969 at the State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he graduated with honours. During his studies he participated in an international piano competition in Sofia (Bulgaria) and received a gold medal (1st Prize) and the Special Award Orpheus for outstanding achievement in the performance of contemporary music.
Vladimir Bunin is one of the greatest virtuosos of the piano scene. His repertoire is wide, ranging from modern music of the 20th Century. Above all, he has proved to be a specialist in Romantic virtuoso piano music. After extensive international competition began his concert career, which from 1968 to 1990 took him across the former USSR and abroad, including: Great Britain, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Romania, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nepal and the former GDR. At the same time he taught at the two most important music schools of the former USSR, at the Central Conservatory of Music School and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. With the decree of the Supreme Soviet in 1987, he was awarded the honorary title of Merited Artist of the RSFSR for great achievements in the performance of concerts.
Since December 1990 Vladimir Bunin lives in Germany with permanent residence in Stuttgart. His concert career has taken him through many European countries and now major cities in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, France, Finland, Czech Republic, Romania, and Egypt and the USA, where he played at New York City's Lincoln Center. In 1994 he completed a major tour of Japan. In Russia, he played the Tchaikovsky Hall the Bolshoi Hall and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, also in St. Petersburg, Alma-Ata, etc.
Numerous LP and CD recordings for Melodiya (Moscow), Balkanton (Bulgaria), Calig / Koch, Hänssler publishing, television recordings and radio broadcasts in Moscow, Sofia, Prague, Bucharest, Zürich, Stuttgart and Munich, document the high level of his astistry. His Franz Liszt CD on the Hänssler label (co-production with SDR Stuttgart) was nominated in Japan for the HMV Classical Award in 1998 |
