The Polish lyric soprano, Bożena Bujnicka, graduated in 2016 with distinction from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the vocal class of Professor Izabela Kłosińska. She was also a member of the Young Artists Programme - Opera Academy at the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera, where she studied under Professor Izabela Kłosińska, Eytan Pessen and Matthias Rexroth. She has also studied as part of the Erasmus programme at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in the class of Professor Rudolf Piernay. She has won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including 1st prize at the National Vocal Competition Złote Głosy in Warsaw (Poland); 2nd prize and Special Prize for the Best Interpretation of a Classical Aria at the G. Perotti International Vocal Competition (Germany); 2nd prize at the International Vocal Competition “Pieśń wieczorna” in Białystok (Poland). She has also been granted the Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and Science (2011) and the Minister’s Award (2014).
Bożena Bujnicka made her professional opera debut in 2015 singing the role of Amore in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at The Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera under Łukasz Borowicz (staged by Mariusz Trelinski), where she also performed the role of Basia in Stefani’s A miracle, or Cracovians and Highlanders under Władysław Kłosiewicz and the role of Page in Wagner’s Lohengrin under Stefan Soltesz. She also performed the title role in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea at Collegium Nobilium, the role of Donna Elvira in W.A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Gorzów Philharmonic and Warsaw Chamber Opera and the role of Countess Rosina Almaviva in his Le nozze di Figaro at Warsaw Chamber Opera. She sang Miss Jessel in the Polish premiere of B. Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in Szczecin’s Opera at the Castle under Jerzy Wołosiuk. She has also sung several opera roles at Wroclaw Opera House. Apart from opera, she is also constantly extendings her sacred repertoire, including W.A. Mozart’s Coronation Mass, J.S. Bach’s Johannes Passion (BWV 245) and others, and art song repertoire.
Bożena Bujnicka's debut as Amore in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice was called “amazing” and “magnificent” by niezależna.pl and Meakultura. After her appearance as the W.A. Mozart’s Countess she was appreciated for “the beauty of a soprano aligned in different registers and with great phrasing” by Ruch Muzyczny. She was also referred to as a “soprano with spectacular color” by Polityka after her recent performance in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.
Apart from singing, Bożena Bujnicka is developing her directing skills. In March 2017 she made her debut as the stage director of About the Kingdom of Day and Night and Magic Instruments, an abridged version of W.A. Mozart’s The Magic Flute, staged by the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera. The performance was a great success and resulted in numerous revivals. She took part in the Miniatures: creating opera & music theatre for children & young audience workshops in La Monnaie in Brussel and LOD Music Theatre in Ghent (Belgium).
