The German condtor, Roland Büchner, has to be a perfectly trained church musician. Büchner studied at the Regensburg College of Catholic curch Music and Musical Education and at the Conservatorium of Music in Munich. He took degrees as a conductor and as a concert organist.
After his studies Roland Büchner was appointed organist and choirmaster to the main church of Altötting, Bavaria´s most famous pilgrimage shrine, where he was also a teacher at the local College of Music in the subjects Gregorian Chorale and choir-conducting. In 1985 Roland Büchner returned to Regensburg to lead the concert-choir of his old school there, also teaching the organ and choir-conducting.
Since July 1994 Roland Büchner has been the Minister of Music to the Cathedral ("Domkapellmeister") and as such the conductor of Regensburger Domspatzen. As the father of four children he is familiar with problems of kids of our age and helps whereever he can. In his work with the Regensburger Domspatzen he is assisted by two experienced choir-masters, Karl-Heinz Liebl and Hans-Stephan Martin. |
