The Dutch baritone and choral conductor and singing teacher, Jan Jeroen Bredewold, began taking music lessons from the age of 6. In 1990, after finishing training in trade and economy, he decided to begin in 1991 studying the organ, piano and choral conducting at the Conservatoire Constantijn Huijgens de Zwolle. In 1997 he obtained a diploma of studies in choral conducting; and continued to study the piano with Ellen van Lelyveld in Amsterdam, focusing on accompanying singers. Parallel to the direction of several vocal ensembles, he worked on his voice with various teachers including, in particular, Jelle Draijer.
Very interested in the teaching of singing, Jan Jeroen Bredewold founded in 2000 a school of singing with a colleague in the city of Groningen. He also appeared as a soloist and was member of the professional chamber choir "Capella Frisiae.
In 2004 Jan Jeroen Bredewold moved to France. He continued perfecting his voice with Pierre Mervant among others, and the interpretation of the Italian and French Baroque music with Claire Lefilliâtre. His current coach Axel Everaert in Brussels. Today Jan Jeroen is singing teacher, he provides tutoring in Paris and Rouen and master-classes with vocal ensembles. He directs the vocal ensemble Pythagoras in Paris.
Jan Jeroen Bredewold has sung in several professional choir, including the choir of the Opéra de Rouen, and the Eensemble Kerylos dedicated to the reconstruction and interpretation of vocal and instrumental scores of Greek and Roman Antiquity. Since 2006, as a chorister and soloist he regularly works with Le Poème Harmonique (Director: Vincent Dumestre: La Vita Humana of Marco Marazzolli in a program around L'Orfeo doleful by Domenico Belli, and Cadmus & Hermione by Jean-Baptiste Lully which wiwas perormedat the 'Opéra Comique in November 2010.
Moreover, among his projects for the 2010-2011 season, Jan Jeroen Bredewold was soloist in the Stabat Mater by Emmanuele Astorga, Cantata BWV 150 by J.S. Bach, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem. He also sang in L'Egisto by Marco Marazzoli and Virgilio Mazzocchi with Les Paladins under the direction of Jérôme Corréas in staging by Jean-Denis Monory. |
