The Belgian tenor, Axel Steven Everaert, began his musical education in the National Opera House in Brussels. While at university he studied singing and chamber music. In 1987 he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Musicology. From 1987 to 1990 he studied in Rome under Maestra Gianella Borelli and Loredana Franceschini-Shenker. From 1990 to 1995 he has undertaken further vocal training with Ré Koster and Ileana Cotrubas, and in addition, has received coaching from Irwin Gage in Zürich. In 1989 he won the first prize in the Concorso Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (Rome). In 1992 he received the third prize at the International Competition for Coloratura Singing in Stuttgart. In 1994 he was a finalist in the International Gayarre Competition in Pamplona.
Axel Everaert has given recitals and concerts in Belgium, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and Holland. Several of his recitals and concerts have been broadcast live by the National Radios in Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and Germany. Furthermore, he was a guest singer in the Opera Houses of Cologne, Aachen, Koblenz, Athens (Megaron) Lille, Besançon, Avignon and the National Opera House in Brussels. He has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras as the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Baden-Baden Orkester, Hamburger Barockorkester, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Nationaal Orkest van België, Collegium Instrumentale Brugense and Musica Antiqua Köln. He appeared as a guest in several major festivals (Festival de Wallonie, Festival van Vlaanderen, Mozartfest Würzburg, Den Bosch Boulevard, Halle Händel-Festspiele, Festival de Musique de Strasbourg). His repertoire covers among others the J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel oratorios, major operatic roles by W.A. Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti, as well as a broad selection of Belgian, German, French and Italian songs. Axel Everaert has a particular interest in the Italian Belcanto repertoire. With his accompanist Pascale del Marmol, he recorded a CD dedicated to the songs of Ottorino Respighi (Pavane) and a recital CD with a choice songs by Franz Liszt, Rossini, Gabriel Fauré and Felix Mendelssohn (EBS). |
